Life at home with a new babe

Here are some pics from today, just hanging out at home enjoying the new baby.

Graham has just woken up in our bed

Daddy can we keep him?

Can I play with him?

Whatcha got there, Mom?

Oh! It's that baby I like to poke!

Hey, he has a nose!

Liam enjoying an adult-looking beverage (my Dad came over to dinner and when the wine was poured, Liam wanted to join in... so we gave him pear juice in a little glass. I can't believe how well he drinks from stemware! It must be genetic :) ).

Graham's first day

Here are pictures from the day after Graham was born, taken while we were still in the hospital. We only stayed 24 hours in the hospital as we had the worst room on the ward (right by the waiting room and the entrance doors - and the room was NOT soundproof!) We got absolutely NO sleep - great for recovering after giving birth! Also for some reason they did not bring me a single meal - I had to complain at every meal, until I gave up at dinner time because the food was so awful anyway.

The highlight of the otherwise horrid hospital stay was visits from family... here are the pics!

Hmm, what is under that hat?

More baby to poke!

Grandpa came to visit as well!

Now THAT is a BIG baby!

Our last visitor of the day was Aunt Niki

Happy Birthday Baby Graham!

Graham Austin was born today at 9:19pm - he weighed 9lbs 3oz and was 21 inches long. He came into the world less than three hours after we arrived at the hospital - wow! We had an amazing natural & unmedicated birth (that Mom is in no hurry to repeat!)

Here is Mom checking out the readings from the wireless fetal monitor and contraction monitor... I'm all wet because I wore the monitors in the shower, which was pretty neat - the bands are soaked! Best part was I wasn't required to get an IV so I was free to move about... that's the way to go, let me tell you.

This is where the magic happens... I paced around the room for most of the labor, and was on the bed only for the last 1/2 hour - the "fun" part!

There he is! Mommy is happy it is over!

Screaming baby and happy Mom and Dad

Yes... he really weighed 9lbs 3oz! Ouch!

Go fly a kite!

It was an amazingly windy day the day before Graham was born, and Daddy took Liam outside to fly a kite... Mommy and GM came out to watch too!

Liam was fascinated by the kite...

Excited boy!

Thar she blows!

Hmm, so that is what they mean by "go fly a kite"!

WOW!

GM and Liam hypnotized by the kite...

Look at that big boy!

Tickle monster!

More belly bonding - last day for it!

Visit from Grandpa

These pictures are from September 8, when Grandpa came to visit! It was so nice of him to come all the way out to see us. We spent some time outside on Liam's new playset.

There you are!
